The first graves and crosses in Meņģele Cemetery appeared in the middle of the 18th century. Till that time inhabitants of Meņģele buried their deceased ones in Madliena Cemetery, since it was the only burial ground the congregation owned. Meņģele Cemetery was created thanks to the local  estate manager – the landlord Scheinvogel. The oldest grave that can be seen in the cemetery dates back to 1850. Not far from a mortuary, a monument can be found on which an interesting inscription is written "Ceļiniek, kas esi tu, tas biju es, kas esmu es, tas būsi tu" ("Traveller, what you are I once was, what I am you will surely become"). A peculiar characteristic of the cemetery are the grey larches that were planted during the landlord Scheinvogel time which continue to rustle till this day.
